UAE Healthcare Authorities Unite for Public Health Revolution at Arab Health 2024

In a collaborative effort, UAE health entities emphasise the importance of global partnerships and address key public health priorities, including mental health, pandemics, and climate change.

In a collaboration, key healthcare authorities in the United Arab Emirates, including the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Department of Health - Abu Dhabi, Dubai Health Authority, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, and Emirates Health Services, made alliances to support the Public Health Conference 2024 at Arab Health, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from January 29 to 30.

Dr Ramadan Alblooshi, Senior Advisor to the Director General of Dubai Health Authority, highlighted in his keynote speech the important role of the COVID-19 pandemic in emphasising the significance of public health. He emphasised the urgent need for increased funding investments in public health globally. Dr Alblooshi elaborated on Dubai's commitment to developing public health capabilities at global, regional, and national levels.

The DHA has identified critical public health priority areas for 2024 and beyond, including genomes, mental health, occupational health, non-communicable diseases, pandemics, climate change, and people of determination. Alblooshi stressed the importance of global public health partnerships, citing collaborations with the UK Health Security Agency, Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Public Health Agency of Sweden.

The ongoing Public Health Conference aims to unite professionals in the field, boosting collaboration to enhance public health practices in the UAE. Topics covered during the two-day conference include healthier lifestyle and behaviour change, occupational and environmental health, innovation and sustainability in public health, and best practices in crisis and disaster management.

International associations and health authorities participating in the conference include the World Health Organisation, the Ministry of Health Singapore, the International Association for National Public Health Institutes, the International Hospital Federation, the Qatar Ministry of Public Health, and the Ministry of Health Kuwait.

Speakers at the conference discussed various critical issues, with Prof. Vernon Lee from the Ministry of Health Singapore presenting new approaches to surveillance and infectious diseases. H.E. Dr Farida Al Hosani from the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre provided an update on integrated surveillance for respiratory infections.

Ross Williams, Exhibition Director for Informa Markets, expressed pride in the unified effort of UAE healthcare authorities at the Public Health Conference during Arab Health. He underscored the collective commitment to addressing global health challenges and anticipated fruitful discussions that will shape the future of public health in the region.

Simultaneously, other conferences at Arab Health covered topics such as equitable healthcare in emergency and critical care departments and surgical advancements, emphasising innovative techniques and the promising horizon of medical artificial intelligence. Medical professionals attending the exhibition have access to 10 Continuing Medical Education conferences, covering areas like total radiology, diabetes, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopaedics, quality management, infection control, and Central Sterile Supply Department.
