Tech Mahindra inaugurates new Mobile Innovation lab

Tech Mahindra, a supplier of network and software solutions for the telecommunications industry, has announced the opening of its new Mobile Innovation Lab in Bellevue.

The opening complements a recent report from the IDC showing that the global mobile market grew almost 20% year-over-year during the first quarter of 2011.

Meanwhile, the number of mobile subscriptions in the Middle East and Africa is expected to reach almost 1.26 billion by the end of 2015, up from 951 million by the end of 2011. The company is investing in the new lab for testing and development of next generation mobile devices, applications (apps) and test automation tools for the global mobile market.

The new lab is set to work closely with Tech Mahindra’s other Mobile Innovation Centre in Toronto and continue developing new services and technology solutions to further enhance the end-user experience.

The new Mobile Innovations Lab is also expected to help address the huge potential for strategic and effective mobile apps in the Middle East market. With the average penetration rate across the region being over 85%, operators are using applications and content to attract potential customers and compensate for the lost voice revenue.

Looking to play a key role in creating more demand for apps in the region, developers are now looking to create more Arabic based apps and is made even stronger with the move of local organisations to invest in new content development.

“The Bellevue Lab along with our other Mobile Innovation Center in Toronto will enable Tech Mahindra to continue developing new services and technology solutions to help further enhancing the end-user experience,” said Manish Vyas, VP North Americas, Tech Mahindra.

The Bellevue lab will enable Tech Mahindra, through its Value-Added-Services (VAS) subsidiary, CanvasM, to further expand its suite of services to develop and test mobile devices, consumer and enterprise mobility applications. These advanced testing services include device management, messaging, WAP browser compliance, and network validation on a mobile operator’s live network.
