On 29th and 30th of June 2012, Istanbul will host 7th edition of “The Turkish-Arab Economic Forum that will be held under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Turkey Recept Tayyip Erdogan in the presence of a high level Turkish and Arab audience .
The Forum, which is organised by Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group and the Turkish Ministry of Finance in cooperation with the League of Arab States, once again highlights the importance of economic ties between Turkey and the Arab world, especially as Turkey’s vital and strategic role in the region has grown in light of the Arab Spring and the change that has been sweeping the Arab world for more than a year and a half now.
The Turkish-Arab Economic Forum, in its 7th edition will be attended by a number of Turkish and Arab ministers including the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affaris Ahmet Davutoğlu; the Minister of Finance Mehmet Simsek; the Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis; the Qatari Minister of Finance Yousef Hussein Kamal; the Yemeni Minister of Finance Sakhar Al-Wageh; the Tunisian Minister of Finance Housine Dimassi; the Libyan Minister of Transportation Youssef Al Wahaishi; the Libyan Deputy Minister of Oil and Gas Omar Ali El Shakmak and the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya Sadek Omer Elkaber. The forum will also be attended by more than 500 delegates from 22 countries, mostly businessmen, investors and leaders of major companies operating in the difference economic sectors in Turkey and the Arab world.

- Investing in Turkey
- Modern Libya: The New Emerging Economy
- Prospects for the Arab Economies in the Post Arab Spring Era
Organised Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group in Istanbul since 2005, the Forum in its six previous editions has attracted six Arab presidents and about 50 Turkish and Arab ministers, as well as a total of more than 3 thousand participants.
Raouf Abou Zaki, the CEO of Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group pointed out that economic relation between Turkey and the Arab countries have grown and developed fast in recent years with Turkish exports to the Arab world rising nearly more than eight fold since 2000 to reach USD 25 billion in 2010 and Arab exports to Turkey increasing in turn three fold to reach USD nine billion. This has also coincided with the rapid growth of tourism between the two sides and in Arab investments in Turkey, especially in real estate.
Mr. Abou Zaki concluded by stressing the important common interests between Turkey and Arab countries, and the need to exert all efforts to promote cooperation and coordination between them so as to create a powerful economic bloc in the region in the face of ongoing changes in the global economy.
