An eBay for ideas An eBay for ideas

Combine Facebook, LinkedIn, and a philanthropic player like Kiva and add an innovative twist. That’s the general feel of a new social media website born out of the UAE. founded by Shabir Adamji just made its beta debut and aims to harness the elements of e-commerce, social networking and social responsibility and blend them together in a way that adds value to the average Internet user. GoMad, is an abbreviation for Go And Make A Difference and that is exactly what Adamji is aiming to do with this brainchild of an idea.

“Our main focus is on individuals who can be entrepreneurs on this platform. Companies can sell their products and services on the site as well. With the idea portal, we give categories for different sectors, health, environment, and so on. It’s like a snowball effect, the ideas feed off of each other and it gets bigger and bigger.”

Arguably one of the most notable features of the website, is its Ideas Platform, which allows entrepreneurs or just the average user the ability to post their idea, sell it on the site, or help develop or build onto other people’s ideas that have been posted. Another unique aspect is how the platform is closely liked to social and philanthropic initiatives. The website has partnered with the UN World Food Programme, to allow users to use credit gained on the site to make a quick donation and then track the impact as a result.

Adamji and the GoMad team have set a goal of raising over USD seven billion for humanitarian

organisations over the coming years.According to Shabbir Adamji, Founder and CEO, “The responsibility is on the shoulders of mankind to make this world a better place for its future generations to come and to make a difference, using creative ideas, innovation and collaboration.”

As the word gets out about the new website. we’ll be curious to see how businesses and individuals will end up using and reacting to this new venture.
